{"id":192923,"date":"2026-03-16T00:59:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T00:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/192923\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T00:59:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T00:59:10","slug":"bomb-threat-reported-on-plane-bound-for-florida-from-boston-was-not-credible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/192923\/","title":{"rendered":"Bomb threat reported on plane bound for Florida from Boston was \u2018not credible&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Passengers on a JetBlue flight from Boston to Vero Beach, Fla., were stuck aboard the plane for nearly three hours Saturday while authorities investigated a reported bomb threat, according to the airline and published reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">JetBlue flight 1231 took off from Boston Logan International Airport at 8:47 a.m. and landed in Vero Beach at 12:04 p.m., online flight records show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">After landing, the aircraft taxied to a remote area because of a possible security threat, JetBlue said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">\u201cLaw enforcement met the flight and cleared the aircraft,\u201d a JetBlue spokesperson said. \u201cThe safety of our customers and crewmembers is JetBlue\u2019s first priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">A bomb-sniffing dog searched the plane and passengers\u2019 luggage was inspected before anyone could get off the plane, a nearly three-hour process, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcvb.com\/article\/jetblue-flight-bomb-threat-vero-beach\/70742195\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wcvb.com\/article\/jetblue-flight-bomb-threat-vero-beach\/70742195\">WCVB<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The threat was determined to be not credible, Massachusetts State Police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">According to a State Police spokesperson, an \u201cunidentified person\u201d called Massport officials to report \u201cthat there was a bomb aboard a commercial aircraft flying from Boston to Vero Beach, Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">\u201cTroopers assigned to Logan Airport, the Anti-Terrorism Unit, and the Commonwealth Fusion Center worked with our partners in Florida to confirm that the report was not credible,\u201d said Tim McGuirk, the state police spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Though the threat was unfounded, it is still important to report suspicious activity, McGuirk said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">\u201cIf you see something, say something,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">JetBlue launched its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2026\/01\/30\/lifestyle\/vero-beach-travel-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2026\/01\/30\/lifestyle\/vero-beach-travel-florida\/\">new daily direct flight from Boston to Vero Beach<\/a>, about 85 miles south of Orlando along Florida\u2019s Treasure Coast, late last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">WCVB reporter Sharman Sacchetti was among the passengers on the flight and reported that the pilot informed travelers of a \u201csecurity issue\u201d after landing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The Vero Beach Police Department, the Indian River County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the FBI, and the Vero Beach Regional Airport did not respond to messages seeking comment Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagline | font_primary inline_block  margin_top_32\">Tonya Alanez can be reached at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2026\/03\/15\/metro\/boston-jetblue-bomb-threat-not-credible\/mailto:tonya.alanez@globe.com\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"font-size:inherit;letter-spacing:.5px\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tonya.alanez@globe.com<\/a>.
