TPA is in the midst of its 40-day spring break travel period, with an average of 75,000 to 80,000 travelers expected per day until Monday, April 13.<\/p>\n

TAMPA, Fla. \u2014 More than 150 flights are delayed, and more than 70 are canceled on Monday morning at Tampa International Airport as severe weather expected in the region coincides with spring break travel.<\/p>\n

This comes as a Weather Impact Alert<\/a> is in place for Monday afternoon as a line of storms is expected to move through the Tampa Bay area ahead of a cold front. Some storms could become strong during the afternoon and evening hours, with gusty winds and heavy downpours the main concerns.<\/p>\n

TPA is also in the midst of its 40-day spring break travel period<\/a>, with an average of 75,000 to 80,000 travelers expected per day until Monday, April 13.<\/p>\n

Travelers may also experience lingering effects of an ongoing partial government shutdown<\/a>, as fewer TSA agents are showing up after missing their first full paycheck on Friday.<\/p>\n

Here’s how many flights to or from TPA have been canceled or delayed as of 9:10 a.m. Monday, March 16:<\/p>\n

Travelers should check with their airlines for the latest flight information. Despite the delays and cancellations, a spokesperson for TPA said there have not been significant delays at security checkpoints.<\/p>\n

“TPA is not seeing any significant delays at the TSA checkpoints at the moment outside of it being one of our busiest times of the year,” Emily Nipps, TPA’s director of communications, said.<\/p>\n
