St. Petersburg\u2019s vegan hot dog cart is trading wheels for walls.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This summer, after years of festivals, late-night markets and Best of the Bay wins, Nah Dogs will finally have a home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The longtime pop-up, owned by local couple Jeff and Jenny Howe, plans to open a brick-and-mortar at 18 22nd St. S. in the Grand Central District, adding a third St. Pete staple to the already beloved Black Crow Coffee Co. and Tombolo Books duo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Howes first launched Nah Dogs back in 2019, debuting the cart as a simple hot dog stand, with a\u00a0 100% vegan menu and dozens of topping combinations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Six years later, the idea clearly stuck. The street dogs won Best Food Pop-Up<\/a> in Creative Loafing\u2019s Best of the Bay readers\u2019 poll two years in a row, including the most recent 2025 Food & Drink edition. The shop also made PETA\u2019s list for the nation\u2019s top vegan hot dogs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Howes have also been involved in other corners of St. Pete\u2019s vegan dining scene, including\u00a0 Good Intentions<\/a>, the plant-based restaurant in the Grand Central District they helped launch alongside two\u00a0dearly missed vegan spots, Black Radish <\/a>and Golden Dinosaurs<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since 2019, Nah Dogs has evolved\u2014and the weenies have only gotten weirder. <\/p>\n

Dogs at recent pop ups include \u201cWhere the Hell Is St. Pete\u2019s?!\u201d, topped with kimchi cream cheese, chili crunch, everything bagel seasoning, fried onions and scallions on a pretzel bun; the holiday-themed \u201cFeliz Navidog,\u201d a hot dog stuffed inside a tamale with chili, cheddar, crema and salsa verde; and the \u201cBaby Cheesus,\u201d a dog wrapped in griddled cheese and finished with garlic mayo, pickled jalape\u00f1os and pickle potato chips.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nah Dogs offers a wide mix of breads and toppings so customers can build their own plant-based masterpiece, or at least something that vaguely resembles a hot dog.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Until the shop opens this summer, Nah Dogs will keep doing what it has for years: popping up around St. Pete. The cart will be at Indie Flea<\/a> on April 12 and the Green Thumb Festival<\/a> on April 25\u201326.<\/p>\n
