MIAMI \u2014 A 60-year-old man, who was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Wednesday after a shooting in Miami, faced the threat of deportation back to his native Cuba. <\/p>\n
Victor Behondo pointed a black revolver at his roommate\u2019s forehead in Miami during a debt dispute, according to a police officer\u2019s arrest report. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim stated the argument escalated as he refused to pay … he told [Behondo] to shoot him that he was not afraid,\u201d a police officer wrote, adding Behondo then fired twice at the victim\u2019s feet, according to the arrest report. <\/p>\n
Police officers reported responding to the shooting shortly before 8:50 p.m. on Monday at a home along Northwest 26 Avenue, near Third Street, in Miami\u2019s Little Havana neighborhood. <\/p>\n
\u201cOfficers on scene made loud verbal commands for anyone inside the residence to exit. There was no response … patrol officers conducted a safety sweep,\u201d a police officer wrote, according to a report. <\/p>\n
Police officers recovered a black revolver hidden between bushes near the home\u2019s backyard, and found Behondo hiding inside a bathroom with the door locked, according to the arrest report. <\/p>\n
Behondo confessed he had fired the gun \u201cto scare the victim and not with the intent of hurting him\u201d and he had \u201cobtained the firearm from a guy he knows and is unsure if it has been used to commit other crimes,\u201d according to the arrest report. <\/p>\n
Behondo faced a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. His bond was $5,000, but he remained behind bars on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold, according to inmate records. <\/p>\n
