TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Time is running out to join the Madness, and bracketologists are hard at work as the first round of the NCAA tournament kicks off at noon on Thursday.<\/p>\n
While many at work probably spent some time on Wednesday filling out their bracket, there is some good news for managers and employees alike \u2014 don\u2019t worry about productivity loss the next two days.<\/p>\n
FSU business administration professor Wayne Hochwarter said concern about March Madness distraction is overblown and that the modern worker faces all kinds of distractions every day.<\/p>\n

He says managers who ban bracket talk might insult their employees.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s almost like you\u2019re treating people like children, that they don\u2019t know how to do their job. And there\u2019s no kind of micromanaging that\u2019s going to work. And this is an example of it,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
He suggests managers lean in on the basketball fun.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople just need to enjoy it and have a good time, and just get more conversation going about it. Have a day where everybody wears their favorite team shirt or their hat or have little side wagers or, you know, who picked the biggest upset,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
