MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Clarice Webster is upset after visiting her son Shawn inside Jackson Memorial Hospital\u2019s Ryder Trauma Center. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy grandchildren, they witnessed their father being shot,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Webster says her son is the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer employee who was shot in Miami-Dade County\u2019s West Little River neighborhood on Tuesday at approximately 4 p.m. in the area of Northwest 84th Street and Fourth Avenue. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy son just basically came home from work,\u201d said Webster. \u201cHe literally was still in his work clothes.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s fine right now,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n
Police have since identified Nathan J. Cooper, 37, as the suspect in the shooting. <\/p>\n
Doorbell video obtained by Local 10 News shows children running away around the same time the shooting occurred. <\/p>\n
Before the gunfire, though, investigators learned there was a dispute between children. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe guy basically came to his house being disrespectful to his child and wife,\u201d said Webster. \u201cThey got into an altercation and the guy shot my son. In point blank range in front of his children with his child standing next to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Webster said the issue between the children has been going on for several months.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow are we supposed to teach these kids to be peaceful and tell someone, if even after telling someone it still escalated to this,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Officers are still searching for Cooper and say they consider him armed and dangerous. <\/p>\n
