PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 A drone-guided SWAT team swooped in on a Miami man early Friday after police say he burglarized cars in a Port St. Lucie neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) say that a SWAT team deployed a drone to catch a suspected burglar, 22-year-old Germaine Mitchell of Miami, in the early hours of Friday.<\/p>\n
Police say Mitchell was attempting to break into cars on SW Deer Run in the Sawgrass Lakes community and take valuables.<\/p>\n
See also: BODYCAM: Son of arrestee allegedly shatters ICE vehicle window with rock during operation<\/a><\/p>\n However, when dispatch received a call from a neighbor saying a man was lurking around his home around 4 a.m., police used security footage to identify and move in on the suspect, according to PSLPD.<\/p>\n A SWAT Technician deployed a drone, which tracked him down in the backyard of another potential victim, as shown in the aerial footage.<\/p>\n When officers arrested Mitchell, they reportedly found a wallet from a neighboring home that contained the owner’s ID and cash.<\/p>\n Police say they found probable cause to book Mitchell for counts of auto burglary, loitering and prowling, and resisting without violence.<\/p>\n Find more ways to stay up to date with your latest local news.
