A good Samaritan who lives in the area spoke to Local 10 News about rushing in to help. <\/p>\n
That man\u2019s name is David and he is a fire marshal. <\/p>\n
\u201cTo see the pain on her face, while she was here screaming and crying the whole time, that\u2019s not an easy thing to witness,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
David told Local 10 News he heard screaming Monday night and looked out his window. That\u2019s when he said he immediately sprang into action after seeing a fire and two women inside a burning apartment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI ran into the hallway here and that\u2019s when I punched this and got the fire extinguisher,\u201d he said. \u201cI ran upstairs and was banging on the door. The smoke was so thick that you can\u2019t run in there, it was just billowing out.\u201d <\/p>\n
David\u2019s hand is still bandaged from the firefight. He managed to put out the flames, but encountered his neighbors, one of them in immense pain.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was painful to see, painful to hear,\u201d he said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t like a typical scream of like somebody scared — no, you can hear the pain. It\u2019s a different level of trauma.\u201d <\/p>\n
Hollywood police said the incident was a domestic disturbance. \u2018<\/p>\n
Officers said when they arrived, the victim told them that her ex-girlfriend, who has been identified as Kymesha Tarpley, 48, threw gasoline on her.<\/p>\n
She suffered serious third-degree burns and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for her injuries. <\/p>\n
Officers arrested Tarpley, who remained behind bars on Wednesday after being denied bond by a judge. <\/p>\n
She is facing several charges, including aggravated battery and arson causing great bodily harm.<\/p>\n
