TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee\u2019s college students are enjoying their spring break this week, but some businesses in College Town are feeling their absence.<\/p>\n
While some businesses in College Town are still open during Spring Break, they say business isn\u2019t as good as usual. <\/p>\n
With student employees and customers out of town, businesses are resorting to shortening their hours, or even closing their doors for the week.<\/p>\n
Employees are still able to get their hours, but they\u2019re doing jobs they wouldn\u2019t normally do. <\/p>\n
For BLND, a smoothie and sandwich shop on Madison Street, team members are spending their work week cleaning up and doing other tasks to improve the restaurant for when students return. <\/p>\n
Kitchen Manager Will Collins said foot traffic has been very light this week. <\/p>\n

\u201cBetween Mondays and Wednesday, traffic is a little light as far as clientele. Thursday picks up; weekends are heavier,\u201d said Collins. \u201cSunday is our busiest day. When Spring Break came around, it\u2019s been drastically slow as compared to a normal week.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collins said more locals and families are visiting, but it\u2019s not like business as usual. <\/p>\n
He said he\u2019s adapting to the week as best he can. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe expected it to be slow so what we\u2019re doing is we\u2019re updating different checklists, doing a lot of spring cleaning, going through and just kind of making things… implementing different systems to make things a lot more simple for when the students arrive back in town,\u201d said Collins. <\/p>\n
BLND is closing two hours earlier than usual this week.<\/p>\n
They also decided to close their doors on Saturday, but hours will be back to normal on Sunday when students start coming back to town. <\/p>\n
Collins said he looks forward to next week because there will be more hungry students, and more people around to get things accomplished. <\/p>\n
