{"id":198714,"date":"2026-03-20T04:20:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T04:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/198714\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T04:20:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T04:20:06","slug":"plantation-family-distraught-after-crook-caught-on-camera-snatching-chihuahua-mix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/198714\/","title":{"rendered":"Plantation family distraught after crook caught on camera snatching chihuahua mix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">PLANTATION, Fla.  \u2014 A South Florida family is heartbroken after their beloved pet chihuahua was stolen. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The crime, which occurred Tuesday morning in Plantation, was caught on camera. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Little Louie\u2019s owner, James, said it\u2019s a colossal loss for the family. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s a chihuahua-poodle mix, about five pounds,\u201d said James. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Video obtained exclusively by Local 10 News shows the moment a gray Lexus pulled up, someone inside opened the door and pulled Louie inside before driving off. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Louie had wandered off from the driveway, which was a normal occurrence, but he always came back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Plantation police have since released photos of the Lexus.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WE NEED YOUR HELP!<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, 03\/17\/2026, at 8:20 am in the 12000 block of NW 11th Street, a grey Lexus stopped in front of the location, and unknown suspect(s) stole the victim\u2019s male Chihuahua Poodle mix. The vehicle then fled the area.<\/p>\n<p>We are asking residents in the middle\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0vjWWa81E2\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/0vjWWa81E2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Plantation Police (@PlantationPD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlantationPD\/status\/2034784319156138404?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 20, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">James said watching the video was excruciating. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cMy heart dropped, not only for me, my family my kids,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police are investigating and have all the video, as there are dozens of cameras at the house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They also have the temporary tag number that was on the Lexus. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s no replacing Louie,\u201d said James. \u201cThere is no replacement for that dog. He\u2019s irreplaceable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He had a message for the person who took Louie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cDrop him off, you know where you got him from,\u201d he said. \u201cCome bring him back, he knows where home is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Anyone with information is urged to contact Plantation police. A reward has also been offered by the family, who said the person who took Louie can still bring him back, no questions asked.
