JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Six local kids in wheelchairs saw their hand-crafted Halloween costumes for the first time.<\/p>\n
Including two-year-old Donnie Witte, who wanted to be a Blue Angel.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a pilot!\u201d said Donnie.<\/p>\n

He was born with Spina Bifida, a condition caused when the spine and spinal cord do not form properly.<\/p>\n \u201cHe can\u2019t walk, he can\u2019t bear weight on his leg,\u201d said Caroline Witte, Donnie\u2019s Mom.<\/p>\n Donnie may not be able to walk, but with this plane, he\u2019s able to fly.<\/p>\n The Center for Independent Living Jacksonville, RS&H, an architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Town Center, and other volunteers teamed up to create Halloween costumes for 6 kids in wheelchairs, including Donnie\u2019s Blue Angels plane. <\/p>\n \u201cThe joy on his face when he got the costume. He was so happy!\u201d said Caroline Witte. <\/p>\n It\u2019s a moment that Caroline says she\u2019ll be forever grateful for. <\/p>\n \u201cYou can just tell he just felt so special and included,\u201d said Caroline. \u201cIt was just a wonderful feeling as a mom to see that joy when life is not always easy.\u201d<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n
