An Indiana University student and a 2024 IU grad celebrating spring break in Miami were killed Wednesday night when a speeding car ran them down as they crossed a street.<\/p>\n
Sarisa “Lisa” Kongduang and 2024 graduate Greathomon Laowatdhanasapya died at the scene of the March 17 crash, which happened at 9:10 p.m.<\/p>\n
According to a Miami Herald story, a 42-year-old man behind the wheel of a Nissan Sentra was driving recklessly in the area without headlights when he struck the two, who died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Police said several people had called 911 before the crash to report the Nissan’s erratic driving.<\/p>\n
Adan Negron-Morris, 42, reportedly drove away from the scene, abandoned his car and was located inside a nearby Walgreens, where police arrested him. He is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.<\/p>\n
Kongduang, 22, was a finance major from Thailand. Her website introduces her as having “a passion for business, finance, and FinTech, with an unending thirst for knowledge.”<\/p>\n
Her life goals were to “help build a brighter future for myself, my country and the world, all while adhering to the principle of ‘Leaving the World a Better Place than How We Found It.’ “<\/p>\n
A Thai Student Association profile says she been president of IU’s Thai Student Association and treasurer of the Association of Thai Students in the United States of America.<\/p>\n
Laowatdhanasapya, 24, was a 2024 Kelley School graduate who worked for Bank of America.<\/p>\n
