TAMPA, Fla.\u00a0– The Wisconsin men’s track and field team kicked off their outdoor campaign on Friday at the USF Alumni Invitational, highlighted by a personal best in the pole vault from sophomore Augustus Counard\u2011Ciechanowski.<\/p>\n

Counard\u2011Ciechanowski tied for the event win, clearing 16 feet, 4 \u00be inches (5.00m).<\/p>\n

In the throws, Jacob Zednik<\/a> placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 201\u20110 (61.28m). Kyle Clabough<\/a> kept the momentum going for the Badgers, also finishing fourth with a throw of 57\u20115 (17.50m) in the shot put.<\/p>\n

Freshman Tonovila Hicks<\/a> returned to competition for the first time since early February, racing the 400\u2011meter hurdles. The Pennsylvania native placed 10th, crossing the line in 55.75 seconds.<\/p>\n

Three Badgers competed in the 200 meters, led by Josh Onwunili<\/a>, who finished 13th overall in 21.06. He was followed by Farraj Al Amin and Lorenz Forsmann<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zion Omotesa<\/a> raced in just the second 800 meters of his career and his first outdoor attempt, finishing 14th in 1:52.48.<\/p>\n

Robin Ott<\/a> and Jack Schemeling finished the day off for Wisconsin in the long jump. Ott placed 27th with a mark of 20-6 \u00bd (6.26m), followed by Schmelling’s 20-4 \u00bc (6.20m), who placed\u00a028th.<\/p>\n
