MIAMI: Inter Miami CF have secured 17\u2011year\u2011old homegrown midfielder Alexander Shaw to a first\u2011team contract, the Major League Soccer club announced on Friday.<\/p>\n
Shaw, a product of Inter Miami\u2019s academy system, has signed through the 2026 season, with club options for 2027, 2028 and 2029, giving him a pathway to remain long\u2011term with the first team.<\/p>\n
The teenager made his MLS debut last weekend when he appeared as a substitute in a scoreless draw at Charlotte FC.<\/p>\n
\u201cSigning my first contract as a first\u2011team player is a blessing. It\u2019s something I had been working for since I first joined the academy,\u201d Shaw said in a club statement. \u201cNow that I\u2019m here in the first team, I\u2019m excited to continue to play, enjoy memorable moments with my teammates and start winning trophies.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shaw featured prominently last season with Inter Miami CF II in MLS Next Pro, where he made 13 appearances and recorded two assists. His performances earned him short\u2011term loans to the first team before being offered a permanent MLS contract, the club said.<\/p>\n
Inter Miami\u2019s announcement said the deal reflects the club\u2019s ongoing emphasis on developing talent through its academy system and integrating young prospects into the senior squad. The midfielder becomes the latest academy graduate to make the step up to MLS full\u2011time.<\/p>\n
