Several vehicles in the area were seen with shattered windows covered in plastic bags after the break-ins.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is definitely scary. You don\u2019t expect that in Davie — it\u2019s like a college town,\u201d one victim said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSirens didn\u2019t stop. I actually called 911,\u201d resident Raed Awlakey said.<\/p>\n
Police said officers spotted the suspects just after 4 a.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Investigators identified them as 18-year-old Armaun Livingston and 19-year-old Jamarcus Rollins, who were inside a stolen vehicle that matched the description police were looking for.<\/p>\n
When officers tried to stop the car, police said the driver sped off before crashing near Southwest 75th Way into a truck owned by Sam Mays.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey ended up hitting my vehicle and they ran,\u201d Mays said.<\/p>\n
Police said Livingston was quickly captured after jumping out of the driver\u2019s side. <\/p>\n
Rollins, the passenger, ran from the crash and was later found hiding on the front porch of a nearby home.<\/p>\n
Resident Jodiann Perry said she woke up to the sound of officers arresting Rollins while she was inside with her 13-month-old daughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just heard a lot of noise, like screaming \u2018hands up, don\u2019t move,\u2019 and then the guy screaming saying \u2018my head, he got my head,\u2019\u201d Perry said.<\/p>\n
Police said a K-9 helped capture Rollins. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
Investigators said Livingston and Rollins now face more than 40 charges. A judge set Livingston\u2019s bond at more than $100,000. <\/p>\n
Livingston had not posted bond as of Thursday. If released, he will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor and have a curfew of 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
