Florida\u2019s gas prices have climbed more than a dollar per gallon since the start of the U.S. conflict with Iran, according to AAA.<\/p>\n
The average price of a gas of regular unleaded fuel in the state climbed to $3.95 a gallon, a 45% surge over three weeks, which marks the fastest climb in prices in four years, according to AAA\u2019s data.<\/p>\n
The Iran conflict has led to disruptions in the global oil supply chain and caused prices in crude oil prices to swell, leading to the pain at the pump.<\/p>\n
Florida\u2019s average price before the conflict had been $2.88 a gallon. The rise in price translated to an average increase for Florida drivers of $16 more for a full tank, AAA stated.<\/p>\n
While Monday\u2019s state average had fallen back slightly, AAA stated there are no signs of price rises slowing, with a 22-cent climb since last week. The $3.95 average is the highest the state has seen since July 2022 during the height of COVID.<\/p>\n
The highest it has ever hit in Florida was June 2022 when the average topped out at $4.89 per gallon.<\/p>\n
\u201cGlobal events can hit drivers\u2019 wallets quickly, and that is exactly what we are seeing right now,\u201d said AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins. \u201cWhen oil prices spike this fast, refineries pay more for fuel, and those costs reach consumers almost immediately. Unfortunately, Florida drivers should expect continued volatility as long as global supply concerns remain unresolved.\u201d<\/p>\n
The highest priced metro markets in the state were $4.08 in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, $4 in Naples and $3.98 in Ocala.<\/p>\n
The lowest priced markets were $3.64 in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach, $3.67 in Pensacola and $3.70 in Panama City.<\/p>\n
In Central Florida, Osceola and Volusia counties led the way with $3.96 per gallon with Seminole at $3.95, Orange and $3.94, Brevard at $3.93 and Lake County at $3.92.<\/p>\n
