{"id":202690,"date":"2026-03-23T17:25:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T17:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/202690\/"},"modified":"2026-03-23T17:25:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T17:25:07","slug":"no-ice-agents-manning-fll-mia-security-lines-at-least-not-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/202690\/","title":{"rendered":"No ICE agents manning FLL, MIA security lines \u2014 at least not yet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Officials from South Florida\u2019s two major airports said Monday that, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/politics\/2026\/03\/22\/enhanced-role-for-immigration-officers-at-us-airports-as-shutdown-frustrates-travels-and-screeners\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/politics\/2026\/03\/22\/enhanced-role-for-immigration-officers-at-us-airports-as-shutdown-frustrates-travels-and-screeners\/\">an announcement from President Donald Trump<\/a>, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have not been deployed to man security lines during a partial government shutdown \u2015 at least not yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Federal immigration agents have been seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/national\/2026\/03\/23\/federal-immigration-agents-seen-at-atlanta-airport-after-trump-order-amid-during-partial-shutdown\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/national\/2026\/03\/23\/federal-immigration-agents-seen-at-atlanta-airport-after-trump-order-amid-during-partial-shutdown\/\">at Atlanta\u2019s airport<\/a>, however.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Trump made clear on Sunday that he was going ahead with the plan to have immigration enforcement officers assist the Transportation Security Administration by guarding exit lanes or checking passenger IDs unless Democrats agreed to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Democrats are demanding major changes to federal immigration operations and showing no signs of backing down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Across the country, airports have seen long waits at lines as now-unpaid screeners call out of work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Lines at Miami International Airport were relatively quiet on Monday.
