TAMPA, Fla. (March 23, 2026)\u00a0\u2013 University of South Florida baseball heads back on the road to Fort Myers to face FGCU. The Bulls (20-4, 2-1 American) will face the Eagles (17-7, 3-3 ASUN) on Tuesday night.

\nFGCU will be giving away “Horns Down, Wings Up” towels for fans.

\nSetting The Stage:
\nSouth Florida began conference play over the weekend and took a three-game series 2-1 against Rice. The Bulls are currently first in the American Conference. FGCU is coming off being swept in a three-game series on the road at North Florida.

\nSeries History:
\nThe Eagles have dominated the series history, currently owning the all-time record 22-10. South Florida won both games these two teams played last year, one in Tampa and one in Fort Myers, giving the Bulls a two-game win streak against FGCU. South Florida is 3-13 in Fort Myers all-time. The longest winning streak South Florida has owned is three games, and the Bulls will look to tie that record with a win Tuesday.

\nAbout USF Baseball
\nThe University of South Florida baseball program, founded in 1966, enters its 61st season in 2026. Head coach Mitch Hannahs<\/a> returns for his second year at the helm after leading the Bulls to 32 wins in his debut season\u2014the program’s highest win total since 2018. USF also posted 16 victories in American Athletic Conference play, marking its best conference showing since joining the league.

\nHannahs, a 2023 ABCA NCAA Division I Midwest Region Coach of the Year, was named USF’s eighth head coach on June 8, 2024, after an 11-year run at Indiana State, where he tallied 355 wins, six conference titles, and five NCAA Regional appearances.

\nUSF has made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a historic Super Regional berth in 2021. The Bulls have captured five conference tournament titles (three Sun Belt, one Metro, one American) and six regular season championships (three Sun Belt, two Metro, one C-USA).

\nThe program continues to develop top-tier talent with 134 MLB Draft picks all-time, including three selections in 2025. Notable alumni include two-time MLB All-Star and 2018 first-round draft pick Shane McClanahan. Bulls have earned All-America honors 12 times and Freshman All-America recognition 19 times.
