Cornerback A’mir Sears, out of Pembroke Pines, Florida, is one of the most coveted players in the 2028 recruiting class. Rivals Industry Rankings<\/a> list him as a five-star recruit, the No. 1 cornerback and the No. 4 player in the nation.<\/p>\n

Last season for West Broward High School, he recorded 61 tackles<\/a>, one tackle for loss, one sack, three interceptions and 11 pass deflections. He was also an effective wide receiver with 42 receptions for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

The cornerback has garnered attention from a handful of top schools, receiving offers from the Miami Hurricanes, Auburn<\/a> Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes<\/a>, Florida State<\/a> Seminoles, LSU<\/a> Tigers and Florida Gators<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, only one team can land him. Rivals’ national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman made an expert prediction<\/a> that Sears would land with an ACC<\/a> team, choosing the Hurricanes to come out on top.<\/p>\n

Miami, coming off a national championship loss to the Indiana Hoosiers, has yet to land a commitment in the 2028 recruiting class<\/a>. However, Mario Cristobal and his staff continue to trend in the right direction for Sears.<\/p>\n

The cornerback’s six unofficial visits with Miami are the most he’s taken with any team. His most recent came on March 5. Ohio State<\/a> and Auburn are tied for the second-most, each having just one with Sears.<\/p>\n

There’s a chance he could hit campus much earlier than expected as well. Rivals’ vice president of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, previously reported<\/a> that Sears is “likely” to reclassify to the 2027 cycle.<\/p>\n

Many high school recruits commit to schools the summer before their senior year. If Sears does reclassify, his decision could be just months away.<\/p>\n
