{"id":204001,"date":"2026-03-24T14:55:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T14:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/204001\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T14:55:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T14:55:13","slug":"man-accused-of-fatally-shooting-girlfriend-in-oakland-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/204001\/","title":{"rendered":"Man accused of fatally shooting girlfriend in Oakland Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">OAKLAND PARK, Fla.  \u2014 A 41-year-old man was arrested this past Sunday in connection with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/24\/woman-shot-in-possible-domestic-incident-oakland-park-deputies-say\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/24\/woman-shot-in-possible-domestic-incident-oakland-park-deputies-say\/\">fatal shooting of his girlfriend earlier this year in Oakland Park<\/a>, according to the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An arrest report obtained Tuesday by Local 10 News identified the suspect as Miguel Hernandez, who faces one count of manslaughter with a firearm and multiple drug possession charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The shooting happened on Jan. 24 near the 4000 block of Northeast Eighth Avenue. Deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to reports of a shooting and found the victim in the yard outside a small efficiency unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to investigators, the woman was lying near the doorway with her head on a ledge and her body extending into the yard. A large pool of blood surrounded her head, and she was still breathing when deputies arrived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said Hernandez, the victim\u2019s boyfriend, was nearby, crying and with blood on his hands, saying, \u201cHelp her, help her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They said Hernandez\u2019s mother, who lives nearby, called 911 after hearing what she believed were gunshots coming from the efficiency where the couple lived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Detectives said the victim was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she later died.
