{"id":204250,"date":"2026-03-24T18:33:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T18:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/204250\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T18:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T18:33:08","slug":"council-to-consider-contract-for-raise-the-flag-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/204250\/","title":{"rendered":"Council to consider contract for \u2018Raise the Flag\u2019 project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cape Coral City Council is expected to vote on a contract to provide for a donation-funded 250-foot America 250 flagpole at Bernice Braden Park Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Resolution 70-26, the bid to Dynamic South, Inc. is for the \u201cdesign, fabrication and installation of a 250-foot flagpole at Bernice Braden Park in an amount not to exceed $420,000 utilizing those funds existing or to be deposited into the Flag Trust Fund.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The flagpole is in celebration and recognition of our country\u2019s 250th\u00a0anniversary this July 4th.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city desires to install the state\u2019s tallest free-standing American flagpole, to serve as a powerful symbol of freedom, democracy and unity,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Resolution 71-26\u00a0is part of the city\u2019s consent agenda, meaning there will be no council discussion unless a member of the elected board \u201cpulls\u201d any item for debate.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the consent agenda include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A resolution is to approve engineering services for the design of a new neighborhood park, 2224 N.E. 15th\u00a0Street for a not-to-exceed amount of $434,800 with Johnson Engineering LLC.<\/p>\n<p>According to agenda documents, the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department was directed to plan approximately 10-12 years of park expansions to existing city-owned parcels. The department developed a funding, phased, strategy for six new or expanded neighborhood parks until fiscal year 2036. The design occurs in the first year, while the construction is completed in the second year.\u2028Resolution 73-26, if approved, will provide professional engineering services for the repair and restoration of the boardwalk at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve with First Line Coastal, LLC, for $92,896. The agreement would also repair and restore the boardwalk at Rotary Park for $97,900.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, both will be completed in 270 calendar days in a not to exceed amount of $190,796.<\/p>\n<p>Both of the boardwalks suffered damage from Hurricane Ian in September 2022.
