Billionaire David MacNeil has slashed the price of his South Florida mansion once again.<\/p>\n
After a $5 million price cut last week, his custom-built Fort Lauderdale home is asking $34.95 million. It\u2019s a sizable discount from the property\u2019s original listing price\u2014it first hit the market in April 2024 for $50 million, records show.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat pricing was aspirational,\u201d said listing agent Chad Carroll of the Chad Carroll Group at Compass. \u201cWhen I took over the listing [last week], my team analyzed the data and buyer behavior, and repositioned it to sell.\u201d<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump nominated MacNeil, the founder and CEO of auto accessories manufacturer WeatherTech, to the Federal Trade Commission at the start of the year. His confirmation is pending. He has a net worth of $4.2 billion, according to Forbes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
MacNeil bought the underlying property in 2013 for $5.5 million and built the modern mansion in 2021, records with PropertyShark show. He couldn\u2019t immediately be reached for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 11,700-square-foot home stands on a half-acre corner lot with about 300 feet of water frontage in Harbor Beach, one of Fort Lauderdale\u2019s wealthiest neighborhoods. It\u2019s along the New River, opposite Las Olas Isles and Idlewyld, two other luxury-home enclaves.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The interiors of the three-story mansion are defined by modern details like high ceilings, a floating staircase, and a mix of marble and wood floors. There are six bedrooms, including a primary suite with a fireplace, a private balcony with water views, and a bathroom with a sitting area, two vanities and a freestanding stainless-steel bathtub, listing photos show.<\/p>\n
A third-floor lounge space with far-reaching water views and a billiards table leads out to a terrace that has both covered and uncovered spaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n
