TALLAHASSEE \u2014 The No. 10 Florida State softball team (29-4, 6-0) defeated the University of North Florida (26-10, 1-5), 8-0, in five innings on Tuesday evening extending its winning streak to 18 games. The Seminoles improved to 20-1 all-time against UNF, continuing their dominance over the Ospreys.<\/p>\n
Jazzy Francik<\/a> earned the win in the circle, improving to 12-1 on the season while allowing just two hits.\u00a0<\/p>\n Torres set the tone early leading off the game with a home run to right field. The blast marked her 12th consecutive game with a hit and her fifth home run of the season and her third home run in the last eight games.\u00a0<\/p>\n Florida State extended its lead in the second inning as Torres delivered a bunt single and a throwing error allowed Heller to score while Torres\u00a0advanced to third. A sacrifice fly by Shelby McKenzie<\/a> brought Torres home, and Danley followed with a two-run home run to left field to put the Noles up 5-0.<\/p>\n The Seminoles maintained momentum in the third inning behind strong defense, highlighted by a Francik strikeout and a double play to keep the Ospreys of the board.<\/p>\n Makenna Sturgis<\/a> hit an infield single, and Heller walked. Torres continued her standout performance with a double to right field, driving in both Sturgis and Heller. Beachum added an RBI single to score Torres, extending the lead to 8-0.<\/p>\n After a scoreless fourth inning, Florida State closed out the game in the fifth with Makenna Reid<\/a> and Bella Dimitrijevic<\/a> combined for two strikeouts to secure the run-rule victory.<\/p>\n Florida State will resume ACC play at Clemson beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. on ACCNX.\u00a0
