MIAMI \u2014 Miami police arrested a trio of tourists after they said they robbed two people of nearly $10,000 in cash, plus personal belongings, at a marina on the Miami River just after midnight on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to the Miami Police Department, it happened at the Regal Marina, located at 2215 NW 14th St. in the city\u2019s Grapeland Heights neighborhood.<\/p>\n
An MPD arrest report states that the two victims approached a yacht \u201cin order to greet the captain, whom they knew.\u201d<\/p>\n
Afterward, police said three men got off the boat: Diego Murillo, 40, and Shakeel Singleton, 28, both of New York City; and Edwin Vargas, 29, of Atlanta.<\/p>\n
After the boat left, police said the group \u201capproached the victims and surrounded them,\u201d asking \u201cabout the whereabouts of the yacht and demanding their money back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Authorities said they then took the victims\u2019 bags and went through their pockets, taking a total of $9,776, both of their iPhones and their other personal belongings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe group then fled toward the entrance of the marina,\u201d the report states. \u201cAn employee from the marina approached the victims and one of (them) asked him to contact the police.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police said surveillance footage clearly showed the three committing the crime and detained the men, later arresting all three on strong-armed robbery charges.<\/p>\n
All three remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday afternoon, where they were each being held on a $10,000 bond.<\/p>\n
