If Hialeah<\/a> was riding high fresh off their 35-12 takedown of American last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thoroughbreds fell 36-32 to the Killian Cougars<\/a> on Thursday. The Thoroughbreds’ defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.<\/p>\n Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Killian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anton Smith<\/a>, who rushed for 208 yards and one score while picking up 12.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and one TD. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Kymani Corbett<\/a>, who threw for 370 yards and four touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes.<\/p>\n Hialeah’s loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Killian, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.<\/p>\n Looking ahead, Hialeah will head out to square off against Miami Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thoroughbreds will be up against the Golden Hawks’ rather soft defense (which has allowed 26 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Killian, they will host Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. The Stallions’ defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Cougars’ offense will have their work cut out for them.<\/p>\n
