{"id":207290,"date":"2026-03-26T19:19:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T19:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/207290\/"},"modified":"2026-03-26T19:19:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T19:19:07","slug":"new-details-released-after-reported-hit-and-run-turned-into-fatal-fight-in-broward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/207290\/","title":{"rendered":"New details released after reported hit-and-run turned into fatal fight in Broward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 New details were released after deputies with the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested a 57-year-old man after a deadly confrontation this past weekend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/23\/man-dies-at-hospital-after-fight-with-hit-and-run-crash-victim-in-broward-deputies\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/23\/man-dies-at-hospital-after-fight-with-hit-and-run-crash-victim-in-broward-deputies\/\">following reports of a hit-and-run<\/a> in Fort Lauderdale. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/24\/boy-will-have-to-grow-up-without-father-after-fatal-fight-over-broward-crash\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/24\/boy-will-have-to-grow-up-without-father-after-fatal-fight-over-broward-crash\/\">Wayne Morgan Brutton<\/a> was booked earlier this week into the Broward County Main Jail on a manslaughter charge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators said the incident began just after 8:30 p.m. near the 300 block of Northwest 29th Terrace, when Humphrey Willoughby, 50, sideswiped Brutton\u2019s parked car while driving southbound. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to deputies, Willoughby reversed and struck Brutton\u2019s vehicle a second time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">That\u2019s when they said Brutton then exited his car and pursued Willoughby on foot. Witnesses tried to intervene as the confrontation escalated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities said a short time later, Brutton and Willoughby got into a fight, during which Brutton punched Willoughby multiple times in the face. He told deputies he has about eight years of boxing experience that he gained while serving a previous prison sentence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Willoughby was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m. Investigators said his fatal injuries were the result of the blows and his subsequent fall to the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Camille Willoughby, the victim\u2019s ex-wife, told Local 10 earlier this week that she was heartbroken for their 5-year-old son. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHumphrey was involved in a crash, and the guy caught up with him, and they had a fight, and he fell and hit his head, and he is deceased,\u201d she said. \u201cNobody should die like that. A car can be fixed.
