At Florida A&M University, the title of\u00a0Miss\u00a0FAMU is a proud campus tradition that celebrates student leadership and school spirit. As the 120th\u00a0Miss FAMU, Jordyn Anderson now\u00a0represents\u00a0the voice and energy of the student body while embracing the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to connect with students across campus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The third-year business administration\u00a0student\u00a0from Tampa, Florida, says her journey with FAMU began years before she officially enrolled. During a high school visit to campus\u00a0on FAMU\u2019s \u201cBe\u00a0Out\u00a0Day\u201d,\u00a0she experienced the energy of student life for the first time, a moment that helped shape her decision about where she wanted to continue her education.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was my first real introduction to FAMU,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cSeeing the people, the organizations and the energy on campus made me realize this was where I wanted to be.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since arriving on the Hill, leadership\u00a0has\u00a0remained\u00a0a central part of Anderson\u2019s college experience. She said she entered FAMU determined to continue the involvement that defined much of her high school years while building meaningful connections across campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t want my leadership to stop just because I was going to college,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cSeeing other students step into leadership roles showed me that it was possible here too.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
One of her most pivotal moments came when she competed in the Miss Kappa Alpha Psi\u00a0Scholarship Pageant, where she was crowned Miss Krimson and Cream. Anderson said the experience pushed her outside of her comfort zone while helping her grow and form strong bonds with her fellow contestants\u00a0turned sisters.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Kappa pageant forced me to get comfortable with the uncomfortable, and it helped me build real connections with the women I competed alongside.\u201d Anderson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Her journey to becoming the 120th Miss FAMU\u00a0required\u00a0months of preparation and personal growth. Anderson described campaign season as both rewarding and challenging, filled with long nights and emotional moments.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can never fully prepare for campaign week,\u201d she said. \u201cThere were long nights practicing and a lot of tears because I was very passionate about what I was doing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
While the title places her in one of the university\u2019s most visible leadership roles, Anderson says she hopes students see her as approachable and genuine\u00a0above all else. She emphasized that her personality and energy during campaign season reflect who she is every day, not just during a campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI want people to know that this is genuinely me,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cI\u2019m here to serve the student body and be transparent in everything I do.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anderson also hopes students feel comfortable connecting with her beyond official appearances or events. Despite the recognition that comes with the title, she says she still views herself as a student navigating the same experiences as her peers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI genuinely see myself as a regular student,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t want people to think they can\u2019t come talk to me\u00a0because\u00a0I\u2019m always open and here to help.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jordyn Anderson is the 120th Miss FAMU.
