Construction continues on the upcoming Fast & Furious coaster at Universal Studios Florida. When we took a closer look at the project’s development from this angle near the Hard Rock Cafe, we noticed the addition of scaffolding around the recently constructed building in the largest area of the land occupied by the attraction.

You can see a variety of red metal and wooden planks that comprise the temporary scaffolding, with piles of blocks waiting to be added to the wall.

This scaffolding is in place for workers to build the next level of the block wall, which we reported was being built last week.

The broader area surrounding the new scaffolding remains cluttered with a wide range of construction materials, industrial equipment, and vehicles. Guests of Universal Orlando’s CityWalk or Universal Studios Florida cannot get much closer to the site than what you see here. Construction is easily visible from other areas throughout CityWalk, so we will be watching carefully for signs of track developments in the coming weeks.

The Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster is replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. Since the attraction’s original announcement, construction for the coaster has continued at a steady pace with its opening scheduled for sometime in 2027.

Just a few days ago, we got an updated aerial view of the entirety of the attraction’s footprint.

The first iteration of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will soon open at Universal Studios Hollywood. It consists of 4,100 feet of track, sound reduction technology, and 360-degree rotation to simulate the experience of drifting while rolling through various intense turns and rolls on the coaster track.

The Florida version of Hollywood Drift will not be identical to the California version, but it will likely match the theming and drifting effects.

Are you excited for the new roller coaster, or would you have preferred to keep Rip Ride Rockit?
