We\u2019ll start with the good news. In a city that has become increasingly overrun by shiny glass condos and $50 million mega-mansions\u2014populated by billionaires who are, among other things, turning private school applications into a bloodsport<\/a>\u2014the new Beach Villa at the Four Seasons at the Surf Club<\/a> is like an architectural breath of fresh air. The sort of project that reminds us that restraint, when deployed wisely, still works\u2014even in a place as maximally inclined as Miami<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It helps to have good bones. The residence, which is the latest to join Seaway, the enclave of private homes at the Surf Club, occupies an oceanfront property that dates back to 1936. \u201cThe approach was always about working in dialogue with the setting,\u201d says Gabriela Navarro, head of creative at Fort Partners, who designed the space. \u201cThe villa sits within a historic shell, so there was an awareness of its original proportions and the sense of place it carries.\u201d<\/p>\n

And though the \u201930s was a time when Art Deco flourished<\/a> in Miami, Art Deco Redux this is not. \u201cThere is no attachment to a certain period,\u201d says Navarro, who instead prioritized a layered approach, incorporating organic materials like rattan and linen, custom stone and handmade Italian bronze, along with vintage furniture and antique silver, to create a lived-in, been-here-forever vibe. \u201cEverything feels like it belongs there, and always has,\u201d she says. \u201cIt was about bringing in pieces that feel collected over time rather than designed all at once.\u201d You could say it\u2019s like the #LKRB<\/a> of Miami real estate.<\/p>\n

That stealth spirit extends beyond the decor, though of course it has many flashy merits, too. The four-bedroom property is tucked away from everything else, and yet it also has direct beach access. You never have to leave\u2014a private chef will come cook all your meals should you so choose\u2014but you also have full access to the Four Seasons and its amenities and restaurants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Beach Villa is a rare example of an original Art Deco beachfront residence, and the only fully serviced, standalone beachfront villa in Miami managed by a luxury hotel,\u201d says Daniela Trovato, regional vice president and general manager at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Which brings us to the bad news. There is only one Beach Villa\u2014so consider this your fair warning.<\/p>\n
