TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Springtime Tallahassee is kicking off in the capital city with its annual Springtime Teddy Bear Run event.<\/p>\n
The event is hosted every year at Gene Cox Stadium for children with special needs in Leon County Schools. <\/p>\n
This year, over 500 students participated in the event, compared to last year\u2019s 350<\/a>. <\/p>\n More Tallahassee news:<\/p>\n Leon County Schools Superintendent Rocky Hanna was proud of the annual initiative.<\/p>\n \u201cThis lets them know how much we value them, how much we love them and how much we\u2019re there to support them on their journey, it brings me to tears literally, I mean [it] just makes my heart smile.\u201d <\/p>\n Several students said they had fun hanging out with their friends, getting cool stuff and meeting all the people who were dressed up.<\/p>\n There are many other upcoming events in the Springtime Tallahassee festivities, including a music festival on Kleman Plaza Friday night. <\/p>\n On Saturday, there is a 5K Run, Jubilee and parade, which is causing several road closures.<\/a><\/p>\n Tune in to Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. for the full story.
