SOUTH APOPKA, Fla \u2013 Two people were killed after a speeding car hit a utility pole and crashed into a South Apopka home, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
FHP said the 2008 Honda Civic was traveling south on South Hawthorne Avenue when the driver, who was going above the posted speed limit, lost control.<\/p>\n
Troopers said the car ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole, causing the car to flip over and strike the home.<\/p>\n
FHP reports the impact caused both the car and home to catch fire. <\/p>\n
The driver and a passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. <\/p>\n
According to the report, the two people inside were not injured.<\/p>\n
The homeowners told WKMG they are \u201cin shock\u201d and said it \u201cfelt like an earthquake.\u201d<\/p>\n
A roadblock currently remains in the area. <\/p>\n
The Florida Highway Patrol remains on the scene as the investigation continues. <\/p>\n
