TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Springtime Tallahassee drew large crowds downtown Saturday as the annual parade returned for its 58th year, continuing a long-standing community tradition.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s theme, \u201cBest Day Ever,\u201d set the tone as spectators lined the streets to watch floats, marching bands and community groups make their way through the capital city.<\/p>\n
Tallahassee residents Michael and Becky Tolnay have attended the big Springtime parade for the past 13 years and shared what they look forward to the most. <\/p>\n

For some families, the event marked a special milestone. A local, Precious, has camped out to watch the parade since she was a child, and this year she was especially excited to watch her daughter perform in the parade.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to see the small kids get out here because that\u2019s hard to get out in a large crowd and remember all your steps and perform,\u201d she said. \u201cThis year is really special because it\u2019s my daughter\u2019s first time in the parade. She\u2019s a dancer for RAA Middle School.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the parade, the weekend\u2019s festivities included Jubilee in the Chain of Parks, which featured dozens of vendors.<\/p>\n
Magda Fox, owner of Mermaid Accessories, said she has traveled from Pensacola to Tallahassee for the event for the past decade.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are doing this show way before COVID, every year, so I would say the last 10 years I\u2019m here,\u201d Fox said. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s worth coming down for a one-day show over here because it\u2019s great exposure. And I\u2019m always looking forward to meeting the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Organizers estimate around 100,000 people attended Springtime Tallahassee events throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n
