No. 10 Florida State softball <\/a>silenced a packed McWhorter Stadium<\/a> on Friday night, riding a balanced pitching effort and timely hitting to a 4-1 victory over Clemson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The No. 10 Seminoles improved to 30-4 overall and 7-0 in ACC play, while the Tigers fell to 23-11 and 6-4.<\/p>\n

Jazzy Francik<\/a> set the tone in the circle for Florida State, holding Clemson to one hit through three innings. The Tigers mounted their only serious threat in the fourth, loading the bases with one out, but Makenna Reid <\/a>entered in relief and limited the damage to a sacrifice fly.<\/p>\n

That run proved to be Clemson\u2019s only offense of the night. Francik, Reid and Ashtyn Danley<\/a> combined to allow four hits, with Danley closing out the final innings.<\/p>\n

Florida State broke through in the fourth after stranding runners in the first three innings. Danley and Bella Ruggiero opened the frame with back-to-back singles, and Shelby McKenzie<\/a> delivered an RBI single up the middle, extending her RBI streak to nine consecutive games. Kennedy Harp<\/a> followed with a run-scoring groundout, and Marin Heller<\/a> doubled to right field to make it 3-1.<\/p>\n

The Seminoles added an insurance run in the seventh. Hayley Griggs reached on an infield single for her second hit of the game, and Isa Torres stole second after a fielder\u2019s choice. Jaysoni Beachum<\/a> then singled to right to drive in the run.<\/p>\n

Clemson put the leadoff runner aboard in the bottom of the seventh, but Danley induced a double play and a groundout to finish the game and secure the series-opening win.<\/p>\n
