Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Edward<\/a>). They put the hurt on the Port St. Lucie Jaguars<\/a> with a sharp 25-6 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.<\/p>\n Caden Freedman<\/a> and Trey Dunlap<\/a> were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Freedman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Dunlap tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Freedman has been consistent: he hasn’t given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Freedman went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Dunlap went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That’s the most runs Freedman has posted since back in February of 2025.<\/p>\n In other batting news, Reid Morris<\/a> was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Ange<\/a>, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.<\/p>\n St. Edward’s kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port St. Lucie only managed seven.<\/p>\n St. Edward’s record is now 9-3. As for Port St. Lucie, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12.<\/p>\n Coming up, St. Edward’s will host Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Port St. Lucie, they are taking a road trip to square off against Melbourne Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars’ pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hustlers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.<\/p>\n
