TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 The Tampa Bay area saw demonstrators take part in the third round of \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests Saturday, voicing opposition to what they described as bureaucratic overreach by the Trump administration.<\/p>\n
In downtown Tampa, protesters filled streets near City Hall, chanting and holding signs as part of a broader wave of demonstrations seen across Clearwater, Gulfport, Sarasota and St. Petersburg.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will win! We will win!\u201d protesters shouted. \u201cHey, hey! Ho, ho! Donald Trump has got to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was no room for kings back then, and there\u2019s no room for kings now,\u201d David Vardi said, who came to the region from New York.<\/p>\n
Among those in attendance was Democratic state Rep. Michele Rayner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe things that they are doing, we\u2019re not going to continue having this time anymore and making sure that the people know they have elected officials that are with them for real, not just in lip service, but in talk service and in action service as well,\u201d Rayner said.<\/p>\n
Protesters also voiced concerns over immigration and reproductive rights.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen immigrants are under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back!\u201d demonstrators chanted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it\u2019s related to, you know, reproductive freedom with people attacking somebody\u2019s right to access reproductive care, immigrant rights especially,\u201d Harisson Lundy, public policy director of Voices of Florida, said.<\/p>\n
Not all in attendance shared the same views. Tampa native David Gonzalez told 8 On Your Side he was in attendance in full support of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just trying to have some conversations with my fellow Americans and, be like, \u2018Hey, why are you actually out here?\u2019\u201d Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n
Gonzalez offered a different perspective on the issues raised.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think you need to be more responsible for his protection, you know? I mean, if you can\u2019t afford a baby, wrap it up,\u201d Gonzalez said. \u201cMy family came here legally from Cuba in the 1960s. Right. I\u2019m with coming here the right way, don\u2019t skip the line, come the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n
National organizers of the \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests said the demonstrations could be among the largest coordinated efforts of their kind in the country\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
