<\/a><\/p>\nX user @bioreconstruct<\/a> paid a visit to Walt Disney World for a bird\u2019s-eye-view on construction efforts in progress for the upcoming park expansions themed to Cars and classic Disney villains.<\/p>\n You can check out a brief overview featuring multiple angles on the construction work below, starting with a quick look at Cinderella Castle repainting efforts.<\/p>\n In a series of separate posts, bioreconstruct has also shared a collection of high-quality stills and provided further info on the work taking place around and behind the area formerly occupied by the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. <\/p>\n In the above photo, we get a broad overview of construction sites related to both Villains Land and Piston Peak. Based on earlier visits to the park, Bioreconstruct notes: \u201cAt center-left is a tree that will be transplanted from the forest that used to line Rivers of America. Other trees that were moved are at top left. It\u2019s possible these trees will move again\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n In the next image, focused more on a portion of the Villains Land construction site. Located near the The Haunted Mansion\u2019s show building, we can see material being removed from the large hill directly behind the building, leveling out the ground.<\/p>\n Various photos show different angles on the retaining wall that will frame some part of the new waterways being carved out for Piston Peak. Some of these angles also offer a glimpse on Big Thunder Mountain, which remains closed for updates and refurbishment at the time of this post<\/a>. The coaster is still scheduled to reopen in May.<\/p>\n Work of similar, if not greater scale to that of the guest-facing areas of the new lands is thoroughly underway further beyond the proper limits of Magic Kingdom. In the above photo, we can see a view of a viaduct under construction which will eventually connect to the Walt Disney World water management system, according to Bioreconstruct. Sand is being mined in the foreground for use elsewhere in the areas under construction.<\/p>\n Alongside the photos taken within park boundaries, we get an aerial look at the various staging areas and mining efforts nearby, taking place just east of the park on the opposite side of Floridian Place, the road that routes to and beyond the Grand Floridian Resort and to points north of Walt Disney World property.<\/p>\n Magic Kingdom Expansions<\/p>\n The sizable park expansions coming to Magic Kingdom are purported to be the \u201clargest ever\u201d based on various comments since the expansions were first teased in 2022 and 2023<\/a>. The first official details around the new land themes emerged from the 2024 D23 event, confirming the major additions would be themed to Pixar\u2019s Cars and to classic animated Disney Villains.<\/a><\/p>\n Piston Peak, or \u201cPiston Peak National Park\u201d in full, is a Cars-themed area that will feature in the same plot of land formerly occupied by Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. The \u201cNational Park\u201d draws visual inspiration from the Rocky Mountains, frontier-era park architecture, and the broader storytelling tradition of Frontierland rather than simply recreating Radiator Springs, as in the case of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. The project is expected to include two attractions, with Disney previously indicating one will be a more family-oriented ride while the other will be a more thrilling off-road experience.<\/p>\n Villains Land is the next, highly anticipated and much-rumored Magic Kingdom expansion that Disney announced for a new area of land beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Disney has said the area will center on its classic animated villains and will include two major attractions, dining locations, and new park shops. Later creative updates described the project\u2019s design language as drawing from Art Nouveau influences and what Imagineers called \u201cconjured architecture,\u201d with former Disney animator Andreas Deja consulting on the look and feel.<\/p>\n As you\u2019ve seen from the aerial photos courtesy of Bioreconstruct, these new areas are very much in the early stages of development.
