It’s Florida first top-5 road sweep since the turn of the millennium.

The Gators and Razorbacks combined for 27 hits and runs scored in seven of the nine innings played.

Russell Sandefer went 5 2/3 innings in his first weekend start, allowing three earned runs on six hits and no walks. He struck out six before turning things over to the bullpen. Ernesto Lugo-Canchola finished the sixth and got two outs in the seventh before Luke McNeillie came in to get a seven-out save. McNeillie gave up a pair of solo home runs, but Florida scored late to stay in front.

Ethan Surowiec crossed the plate in the first for Florida, off the bat of Blake Cyr. Carter Rutenbar answered for Arkansas in the bottom half of the inning, leading off with a single and coming around on a base hit from Zack Stewart. Cyr struck again in the third, breaking the 1-1 tie with a two-run single, scoring Brendan Lawson and Surowiec.

Arkansas made it a one-run game in the fourth, scoring on a Reese Robinett double, but Florida answered with three in the top of the fifth. Lawson and Surowiec hit back-to-back home runs, and Wilson capped off a trio of singles with an RBI.

Need a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!

Florida traded a run for a double play in the sixth, and Arkansas made it a one-run game in the seventh with a two-run shot from Ryder Helfrick.

Cade Kurland drove in a critical insurance run in the eighth, and Kuhio Aloy hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning. Kurland’s RBI ended up being the deciding run. Helfrick came back up to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with a man on and a chance to win it, but McNeillie struck him out to finish things off.

Surowiec had four hits, including two doubles and a home run. He also scored three runs, as did Lawson. Cyr, Krualnd and Kolt Myers also had multi-hit days on a day where Florida posted a season-high 17 hits.

FINAL: Florida 7, Arkansas 6

McNeillie struck out Niu on three straight sliders. Turner almost took one out, but the wind was so strong it pushed the ball foul. Instead, Turner waved a high fastball for the second out. Rutenbar lined a base hit over second base to bring the winning run to the plate, and it’s Helfrick, who hit a home run last time up. TJ Pompey pinch ran for Rutenbar.

Kevin O’Sullivan came out for a meeting with McNeillie. He left him in, but two arms warming in the bullpen. Pompey stole second, and Stanford made a bad throw that trickled into center field and moved Pompey over to third. McNeillie got the job done, though, striking out Helfrick to complete the sweep.

Gators get nothing in the ninth (M9: UF 7, ARK 6)

Parker Coil is the new pitcher for the Razorbacks. He got Yost to ground out to second and struck out Yost and Jones. Florida needs just three outs to win the game, but Arkansas is hitting the ball well. McNeillie has already given up a pair of home runs, but Joshua Whritenour isn’t available after throwing in the first two games.

Aloy goes deep (E8: UF 7, ARK 6)

McNeillie stayed in for Florida, but he gave up another home run. Aloy crushed one to left center, and Robinett nearly tied the game up on a tall flyout to right. The wind is blowing right to left, though, which kept it in the ballpark. Stewart flied out and Souza strukc out swinging earlier in the frame.

Gators create some distance (M8: UF 7, ARK 5)

Mark Brissey took over for McElvain on the ground. He didn’t fare well against the middle of Florida’s lineup, giving up base hits to Lawson and Bowen. The latter came on a ball back to him, but Brissey couldn’t glove it and had no play after retrieving it. Surowiec hit him hard, too, but Turner tracked it down for an out.

Brissey’s truck out Cyr and Stanford to end the inning, but not before Kurland drove in an important insurance run between the two punchouts.

Arkansas homers to make it a 1-run game (E7: UF 6, ARK 5)

Lugo-Canchola got the first two outs of the inning, but he walked Rutenbar, leading Kevin O’Sullivan to go back to the bullpen. Luke McNeillie took over and got ahead 0-2 on Helfrick. He left a fastball up, though, and Helfrick didn’t miss it. He clubbed it toward the scoreboard in right-center. The two-run homer made it a one-run game again…

Florida strands bases loaded (M7: UF 6, ARK 3)

Cyr struck out to open the seventh, but McElvain walked Kuralnd Stanford and Yost to load the bases. He wasn’t particularly close to the zone, throwing just two strikes against those three batters. He got Myers to a full count and struck him out on a borderline pitch. Myers tossed his bat as if it were ball four, but the umpire disagreed. Myers walked off shaking his head. Jones grounded out to second, stranding three runners on base.

Arkansas keeps battling (E6: UF 6, ARK 3)

The Razorbacks are still in this game, despite Florida having 13 hits. Kozeal and Stewart both singled to open the bottom of the sixth, putting men on the corners. Aloy grounded into a double play, which Florida was happy to trade for a run.

That was the end of the line for Sandefer. Ernesto Lugo-Canchol came in to handle the rest of the inning. Souza doubled off the wall in left, but Robinett stranded him with a groundout to second base.

Surowiec doubles but can’t score (M6: UF 6, ARK 2)

Jones and Lawson both flied out to start the inning. Surowiec notched his fourth hit and third extra-base hit of the day. He’s a triple shy of the cycle and has nine total bases. Bowen couldn’t bring him in, though, as he struck out on three pitches.

Florida flashes the leather in 1-2-3 frame (E5: UF 6, ARK 2)

Cyr made a terrific diving play to rob Turner of a hit, but he landed awkwardly and rolled over his wrist. He didn’t come out of the game, but the training staff will probably check on him once the Gators get back into the dugout.

Lawson made his own diving play, stopping a ball to his gloveside while going prone. He made the throw for an easy second out, and then charged a slow-rolled for the third out. Some very good defense for Florida in this inning.

Gators go back-to-back, add three runs (M5: UF 6, ARK 2)

Lawson opened the fifth with a solo home run to left-center. He hit the jet stream, and the wind helped carry it out, but it was an excellent at-bat to get there. He laid off a couple of off-speed pitches to get the breaking ball he wanted and crushed it.

Surowiec went back-to-back with Lawson, homering to the opposite field in right. He caught a cutter on the outside and took it where it was pitched.

Bowen struck out swinging, but three straight singles from Kurland, Stanford and Wilson brought in another run. Before Wilson hit, Arkansas brought in Ethan McElvain. Hayden Yost pinch-ran for him and will take over in right field in the bottom half of the inning. McElvain got Myers looking to end the inning.

Arkansas gets one back (E4: UF 3, ARK 2)

Sandefer picked up where he left off, striking out Stewart with a changeup. He’s throwing it to both sides of the plate, and Arkansas can’t figure out how to make contact. Aloy broke the streak of eight batters retired in a row with a single to left. Florida’s bench didn’t like the second ball call, and home plate umpire Jeff Wright exchanged words with them.

Souza sent one deep to left, and the wind pushed it to the warning track. Cyr made a leaping grab to rob Souza of extra bases. Wilson couldn’t do the same in right. Robinnett doubled down the right field line to bring in Aloy. Wilson laid out, but he wasn’t really close, and the ball bounced off the brick in foul territory. Sandefer preserved the lead by inducing a groundout to third base from Ruiz.

Hogs turn two to face the minimum (M4: UF 3, ARK 1)

McGuire settled in during the fourth. He struck out Wilson, but Myers singled to right center, turning the lineup over. Jones couldn’t capitalize, and he grounded into an inning-ending double play. That’s a 10-pitch innings for McGuire, which has to feel good after giving up the lead in the third.

Sandefer strikes out the side (E3: UF 3, ARK 1)

Sandefer is getting stronger as the game carries on. He struck out the side in the third. Rutenbar tried to take ball four, but he got punched out. Helfrick and Kozeal both went down swinging. The changeup is looking nasty.

Gators retake lead on 2-run single from Cyr (M3: UF 3, ARK 1)

Lawson singles up the middle off Fisher to give the Gators a leadoff hit with the heart of the order coming up. Surowiec follows that up with a double that bounces off the leftfield wall, putting two runners in scoring position with no outs. Coach and infielder gather at the mound to discuss what they will do next.

Bowen strikes out on a sweeping breaking ball after five pitches for the first out. Tate McGuire is taking over for Fisher.

Cyr singled in to left to score both runners. Kurland got robbed of a base hit on a diving catch in left, and Stanford flied out to left to end the inning.

Hogs go down 1-2-3 on 8 pitches (B2: UF 1, ARK 1)

Reese Robinett swings at the first pitch he sees, sending it to left field where it is easily caught for the first out. Damian Ruiz hits a soft grounder to second for out No. 2, and Sanderfer finishes an efficient eight-pitch inning by getting the No. 9 hitter Christian Turner out on a grounder to first.

Gators strand 2-out single (M2: UF 1, ARK 1)

Cole Stanford strikes out looking on a looping backdoor 77 mph curveball for the first out of the second. Ashton Wilson follows that with a routine fly to centerfield after battling for seven pitches.

Cash Strayer is shown in the dugout with a cast on his hand — a result of a HBP on Saturday that struck his hand and clearly caused some damage.

Myers comes up in the nine-hole and proceeds to single on a hard grounder up the middle that careens off the mound. Can the Gators pull off the two-out rally?

Fisher offers both his low-80s slider and high-70s curveball, with the former getting Myers to ground out easily to the shortstop to end the frame.

Hogs strike back, tie game up (E1: UF 1, ARK 1)

Russell Sandefer starts off with a 93 mph fastball for a strike against Carter Rutenbar, who was moved up to the leadoff spot for this game. The Hogs hitter battles through a 10-pitch at-bat, with the fastball touching 95 mph, before an opposite-field liner to left to put him on first base.

The righty also flashes a slider, one of which lands in the dirt well outside and allows the runner to advance to second. Man in scoring position and Ryder Helfrick strikes out on a foul-tipped fastball in on his fists; one down.

Camden Kozeal swings at a pair of changeups in a four-pitch at-bat for out No. 2, but another opposite-side hit, this time by Zack Stewart, on a grounder through the infield gap brings home Arkansas’s first run. A grounder to third by Kuhio Aloy looked like it could be out No. 3, but Kolt Myers’ errant throw gives the Razorbacks another life.

Nolan Souza grounds to first for an unassisted out to end the inning, but the game is now tied.

Gators strike first (M1: UF 1, ARK 0)

Kyle Jones opens up the game with a single through the right side on the second pitch he sees from Colin Fisher, but immediately gets picked off trying to steal second, resulting in Florida’s first out. Bummer.

Brendan Lawson grounds to first base for an easy unassisted out, but Ethan Surowiec keeps the inning alive with a single up the middle. Surowiec steals second on a ball that pops out of the catcher’s glove before he can make the play, and now there is a runner in scoring position, but two outs.

Karson Bowen is hit on the foot with a 78 mph curveball and now the Gators have a pair of runners on base for Blake Cyr, who pokes a grounder through the left side that brings home Surowiec for the first run of the game. 1-0 Florida.

Cade Kurland flies out to deep left-center field to end the threat, but the Gators strike first.

Watch Florida vs. Arkansas with Fubo free trialFlorida vs. Arkansas starting pitchers, lineupsProbable Starters: Game 3 – Sunday (1 p.m. ET)TeamPitcherRecordERAFLORIDARHP Russell Sandefer1-13.97ARKANSASLHP Colin Fisher2-22.70

NOTES: Florida isn’t listing a Sunday starter, which suggests Russell Sandefer will replace Cooper Walls in the weekend rotation. Sandefer has impressed as a midweek starter, and Kevin O’Sullivan appears ready to pull the trigger. Walls will still be available in long relief, which could benefit him as a slider-heavy arm. It’s wait-and-see for now, but there are really only two options here, unless Luke McNeillie gets a shot.

Colin Fisher was excellent against the first three games of the non-conference schedule, but he’s struggled in his last three starts. A four-run (three earned) performance against Stetson was the start of the trouble for him. He lasted only four innings, and then followed that up with 4 2/3 innings of three-run ball against Mississippi State. He couldn’t make it through the third against South Carolina last week, giving up another three runs. Strikeouts are down, and walks are going up for Fisher. He still has a 5.9% walk rate on the year, however.

Fisher throws a low-90s sinker and mixes in a slider and a changeup. The slider is considered his best pitch.

Florida Gators starting lineupArkansas starting lineupWhat channel is Florida vs. Arkansas?Date: Sunday, March 29Start time: 1 p.m. ETChannel: SEC NetworkStream: Fubo (with free trial)

The Florida at Arkansas game starts at 1 p.m. ET from Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Follow us @GatorsWire on X, formerly known as Twitter, as well as Bluesky, and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Florida Gators news, notes and opinions.

Updated March 29, 2026, 5:31 p.m. ET Florida baseball completed the road sweep of Arkansas on Sunday with…

[6
31,28,30,29,14113,14011,67928,339,39,4814,14012,4819,49,4818,4821,17028,300,34
0":"post-211063","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-florida","8":"tag-accessfree","9":"tag-florida","10":"tag-florida-headlines","11":"tag-florida-news","12":"tag-sstssportscollegegatorsbaseball","13":"tag-sstsnbaseball","14":"tag-tagcollege-baseball","15":"tag-tagcontains-commerce-or-affiliate-content","16":"tag-tagflorida","17":"tag-tagflorida-gators","18":"tag-tagflorida-gators-baseball","19":"tag-tagncaa-southeastern-conference","20":"tag-tagoverall-neutral","21":"tag-tagsec-conference-football","22":"tag-tagsec-hub","23":"tag-tagsmg-listicle","24":"tag-tagsports-news","25":"tag-typestory
["GET
