PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 After hearing cries for help, fire crews breached a window to save a trapped resident and four dogs from a smoke-filled Port St. Lucie home early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Firefighters with the St. Lucie County Fire District<\/a> say they responded to a home in Port St. Lucie at 1:50 a.m. on Sunday for reports of a structure ire.<\/p>\n

After hearing cries for help, fire crews breached a window to save a trapped resident and four dogs from a smoke-filled Port St. Lucie home early Sunday morning. (SLCFD)<\/p>\n

While en route, dispatch told crews the caller reported seeing smoke and hearing someone calling for help, per SLCFD.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, firefighters reported seeing smoke billowing from the roofline with all doors secured.<\/p>\n

When the Port St. Lucie Police Department<\/a> confirmed with firefighters that someone was heard inside, crews entered through a window to search the residence and initiate an interior fire attack.<\/p>\n

Crews reported locating the trapped occupant, rescuing them, and transporting them to a local trauma center.<\/p>\n

During the search firefighters located and removed five dogs from the home, with one dog succumbing to their injuries sustained in the blaze.<\/p>\n

Just 30 minutes after their arrival, SLCFD said the fire was completely contained.<\/p>\n
