TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – In a statement released on Sunday, Florida State baseball announced first baseman is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his right leg.<\/p>\n
The injury occured<\/a> when Bailey slid into second base in the eighth inning of the Seminoles 12-11 win over Duke on Saturday. <\/p>\n Here\u2019s head coach Link Jarrett\u2019s quote from the statement:<\/p>\n \u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with Myles for a full, speedy recovery. I have not coached a player with a better combination of work ethic, character, and skill. His application of work allowed Myles to develop into a spectacular player both offensively and at first base. He has amazing parents, who molded him into a wonderful young man. Our medical team was fully engaged from the moment he was injured. He will recover from this injury and return to his dynamic form.\u201d<\/p>\n Bailey was a driver to the Seminoles offense. He appeared in all 26 games the team has played this season, hitting 13 home runs and 33 RBI. Both stats led the team. In the same number of games at first base, he commited just one error.<\/p>\n During Florida State\u2019s series finale against the Blue Devils on Sunday, redshirt senior Eli Putnam took over as the first baseman.
