{"id":211726,"date":"2026-03-30T14:38:28","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:38:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/211726\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T14:38:28","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:38:28","slug":"rec-center-to-host-great-spring-egg-hunt-sanibel-captiva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/211726\/","title":{"rendered":"Rec center to host Great Spring Egg Hunt &#8211; SANIBEL-CAPTIVA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n                                                <a href=\"https:\/\/www.captivasanibel.com\/news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#13;<br \/>\n                                &#13;<br \/>\n                    \/News                                                        &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n            <\/a>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n            &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<\/p>\n<p>1 \/ 2<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"slide\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Easter-egg-kids-1100x733.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2 \/ 2<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"slide\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/SRC-GREAT-SPRING-EGG-HUNT-1085x840.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>CITY OF SANIBEL<br \/>\nParking for Sanibel Island&#8217;s Great Spring Egg Hunt on April 4 at the Sanibel Recreation Center.<\/p>\n<p>            <a class=\"prev next_prev_slide\" onclick=\"plusSlides(-1)\"><\/a><br \/>\n            <a class=\"next next_prev_slide\" onclick=\"plusSlides(1)\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            [expand]<\/p>\n<p>        close<br \/>\n    &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n    &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n    &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The islands community is invited to celebrate the holiday weekend with a family-friendly event.<\/p>\n<p>The Sanibel Recreation Center will host Sanibel Island\u2019s Great Spring Egg Hunt on April 4 from 10 a.m. to noon on the Sanibel Ballfields at the center, with the gates opening at 9:30 a.m. Free and open to the public, it will feature egg hunts, a guest appearance, contest, experiences, activities and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe enjoy hosting any events during the year and throughout the seasons, and this is just another extension of that,\u201d city Recreation Department Marketing &amp; Events Coordinator Denise Dillon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it was so well received last year with close to 1,000 participants,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees will get the chance to visit with a special guest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet everyone,\u201d Dillon said.<\/p>\n<p>The age-specific egg hunts will kick off 11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be having three simultaneous egg hunts,\u201d she said. \u201cThe three fields will be broken down by age groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The groups will be ages 4 and under, grades K-3, and grades 4-8.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s going to prizes in all of the eggs \u2014 candy, small toys,\u201d Dillon said, noting that Pinocchio\u2019s Original Italian Ice Cream, The Magic Bus Ice Cream &amp; Caffeine, and The Shack of Sanibel also provided coupons for sweet treats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach field will have additional prizes,\u201d she added, citing Easter baskets and more.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees can enter the Spring Bonnet\/Cap Contest, with the winners announced at 11:15 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will be broken down by the same age groups. We will have a winner in each age group,\u201d Dillon said, adding that there will be prizes for them.<\/p>\n<p>New at this year\u2019s event will be the Butterfly Garden Experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticipants can enter a self-enclosed tent where they\u2019ll be able to see native Florida butteries and they can learn a little bit about them,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019ll be fun for all the kids to experience that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There will also be interactive experiences and hands-on activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur community partners that will be on hand will be providing small activities for all of the children,\u201d Dillon said.<\/p>\n<p>The center will offer face painting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019ll have some lawn games, like cornhole,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, with snacks and drinks supplied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have a deejay, that is new this year,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cThe deejay will be playing some games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Limited parking will be available at The Sanibel School. Additional parking will be available at the J.N. \u201cDing\u201d Darling National Wildlife Refuge\u2019s tram parking lot, with shuttle transportation provided.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also encourage people to ride their bikes and carpool,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The public is invited to come out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt helps to bring the community together, creates memories for our local children and for our community who may have family in town for the holiday weekend,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cAnd we like to think of it as a nice, new tradition that kicks off the spring season in a meaningful way for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information, call the center at 239-472-0345.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsor opportunities are still available.
