Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis approved seven more bills, according to a report from our sister station in Orlando, WKMG.<\/a><\/p>\n

They\u2019re just the latest of the batch in the 2026 Legislative session, though, with DeSantis already approving new environmental and agricultural laws earlier this month.<\/p>\n

SB 386<\/a> \u2014 Farm Equipment<\/p>\n

Senate Bill 386 sets up a process for consumers and manufacturers to remedy defective farm equipment.<\/p>\n

If farm equipment is defective, this law lets buyers report the defect to the manufacturer during the warranty period or the one-year period after the original delivery date of the farm equipment.<\/p>\n

The law also requires the manufacturer to either replace or refund any defective farm equipment.<\/p>\n

The law is set to take effect on July 1.<\/p>\n

HB 399<\/a>\u2014Development Regulations<\/p>\n

House Bill 399 requires application fees for development permits to be reasonably related to the costs associated with processing the application and prohibits fees based on a percentage of project costs.<\/p>\n

The legislation also mandates that each local government\u2019s land development regulations must include factors for assessing compatibility of residential uses.<\/p>\n

The law took effect immediately.<\/p>\n

HB 569<\/a>\u2014Forensic Client Services<\/p>\n

House Bill 569 allows the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to house non-forensic clients and forensic clients within the same wards in secure APD facilities.<\/p>\n

The law is set to take effect on July 1.<\/p>\n

SB 844<\/a>\u2014Sickle Cell Disease<\/p>\n

Senate Bill 844 requires that the standard continuing education course on prescribing controlled substances include information regarding the treatment of pain for patients with sickle cell disease.<\/p>\n

The law is set to take effect on July 1.<\/p>\n

HB 1443<\/a>\u2014Parkinson\u2019s Disease Registry<\/p>\n

House Bill 1443 requires the Florida Institute for Parkinson\u2019s Disease at USF to set up a statewide Parkinson\u2019s disease registry.<\/p>\n

Under this legislation, physicians who diagnose a patient with Parkinson\u2019s disease must report nationally recognized performance measures to the registry beginning on Jan. 1, 2027.<\/p>\n

The law is set to take effect on July 1.<\/p>\n

HB 1445<\/a>\u2014Public Records (Parkinson\u2019s Disease Registry)<\/p>\n

House Bill 1445 creates a public record exemption for patient-identifying information held in the Parkinson\u2019s disease registry set up by HB 1443.<\/p>\n

The exemption will be repealed on Oct. 2, 2031, unless reenacted by lawmakers.<\/p>\n

The law is set to take effect on July 1.<\/p>\n

HB 7011<\/a>\u2014Public Records (Aquaculture Records)<\/p>\n

House Bill 7011 continues a public records exemption for certain aquaculture records held by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.<\/p>\n

That exemption refers to the following:<\/p>\n

Shellfish receiving and production records generated by licensed shellfish processing facilities<\/p>\n

Audit records and supporting documentation required for submerged land leases<\/p>\n

Aquaculture production records and receipts generated by certified aquaculture facilities<\/p>\n

The law took effect immediately.<\/p>\n
