A commercial bakery that produces millions of donuts, muffins and cookies each year is prepping for a huge expansion of its Orlando business, with plans for a new facility that would more than double the size of the operation.<\/p>\n

Bakery Express<\/a>, which currently operates out of a 58,232-square-foot commercial bakery in the McCoy Commerce Center, has filed plans with the city for a multi-phased industrial bakery and warehouse at 6650 Narcoossee Rd. The new facility would span approximately 252,000 square feet, with the expanded bakery located in Phase 1 (132,200 SF).<\/p>\n

Bakery Express paid $13 million in December for the 14-acre property, which is located within the Orlando Corporate Center business park.<\/p>\n

Jordan Draper with Kimley-Horn<\/a> submitted the master plan, which is scheduled to go to the Municipal Planning Board on April 26.<\/p>\n

Elevations from Geis Companies<\/a>, an Ohio-based industrial design-build firm, show the main building reaching 38 feet in height, while the section housing the bakery tops out at 68 feet.<\/p>\n

Founded in Baltimore in the early 1970s, Bakery Express opened a facility in Orlando about 30 years ago. The company now operates in four states and employs over 680 people, supplying baked and ready-to-bake goods to grocery and convenience stores as well as food service and institutional clients.<\/p>\n

The product lines range from donuts and pastries to brownies, cookies, pretzels, churros, bagels and bread rolls.<\/p>\n

Orlando Corporate Center is located in the desirable Airport\/Lake Nona submarket, which has the largest amount of industrial space in Central Florida. It was the fastest-growing submarket last year, with over 1.3 million square feet under construction in the Fourth Quarter, according to Cushman & Wakefield\u2019s MarketBeat<\/a> report.<\/p>\n
