GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – University Athletic Association officials are planning improvements to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium through a multi-phase renovation.<\/p>\n
School officials say the goal is to preserve the energy and history of the stadium while upgrading its systems and spaces to better serve fans.<\/p>\n
The university released a fan experience survey telling Gator fans the school is nearing the end of the planning process for renovations at the stadium, known as \u201cThe Swamp.\u201d<\/p>\n
The survey asks fans their feelings on topics ranging from ticket prices to potential premium seating options.<\/p>\n
Fans said crowded concourses and long lines at concession stands are among their chief concerns when it comes to their experience at the stadium.<\/p>\n
Robby Sandargas, who graduated last year, said more shade would improve the fan experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome type of shade on the student section, maybe not the whole section but part of it and that to me would make the students want to stay for longer than just I won\u2019t back down by Tom Petty,\u201d Sandargas said.<\/p>\n
Sandargas said ticket prices could be improved.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe price of the games I think 150 maybe could be improved just because you want more of turnout,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Other media outlets have reported a dollar figure for the project and postulated that existing capacity may go down inside the stadium. School officials say a final dollar figure has not been determined and say it is their goal to keep capacity where it is inside the stadium.<\/p>\n
Officials expect to have an update before Gator football kicks off this season.<\/p>\n
