John Brown is a capable college student \u2014 not on the Dean\u2019s List of Scholars<\/a> \u2014 but capable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, much like Icarus, Brown has flown too close to the sun by attempting what many consider impossible \u2014 skip class once, but never again.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just not feeling Introduction to Time-Management this week, but I\u2019ll go back next week,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n

That was during the first week of spring classes in January, but Brown said he hasn\u2019t attended a single Introduction to Time-Management class since then \u2014 claiming the class holds no value to him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m never going to use it,\u201d Brown said. \u201cWhen am I going to actually manage my time in the real world?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mouse Jimmy, one of Brown\u2019s friends, said Brown has an addictive personality.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore skipping class, it was gambling and before that it was Cutwater,\u201d Jimmy said. \u201cThis is just what he does.\u201d<\/p>\n

William Blunder, the Introduction to Time-Management professor, tried to solve Brown\u2019s attendance crisis.<\/p>\n

After noticing the lack of physical presence in his class, Blunder created a support group for Brown and other students who repeatedly skipped his class.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The group meets at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Business Administration Building.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first week of the support group was great,\u201d Blunder said. \u201cEveryone showed up. But after that, everyone began to dwindle off one by one. I was as surprised as you are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blunder then decided to incentivize his students to attend the \u201cstudents who skip class\u201d support group by creating an attendance survey.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout six weeks after the support group started, the attendance survey showed that all 45 students were present,\u201d Blunder said. \u201cWhich was weird because only two of us were in the room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after, he created a new support group \u2014 the \u201cstudents who skip the \u2018students who skip class support group\u2019 support group,\u201d also known as SWSTSWSCSGSG for long.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After attending the first support group meeting, Brown decided he would skip the attendance group once but never again.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brown said he has been bedridden in his dorm room ever since he stopped attending the support group \u2014\u00a0 not due to any ailment, but because he believes he has no reason to leave.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI just do day trading all day,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI\u2019ve lost $2,000. It sounds bad, I know, but you have to spend money to make money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown plans to drop out of college in the summer and live with his parents full-time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI figure I can just take all my support groups online,\u201d Brown said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blunder said he has been deeply frustrated by the perpetual skippers of both his support groups and his classes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just going to cancel class tomorrow,\u201d Blunder said. \u201cJust this once.
