MIAMI \u2014 A 38-year-old man accused of stealing more than $60,000 in cash and valuables from a bowling alley in downtown Miami last Christmas Eve told police \u201cfinders keepers\u201d after his arrest, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The theft occurred at Lucky Strike Miami, located at 199 NE Seventh St., according to the Miami Police Department. <\/p>\n
Investigators said the victim left a black bag on a game ledge while playing and later discovered it was missing.<\/p>\n
They said surveillance video showed a man wearing all black with a fully tattooed right arm taking the bag and quickly leaving the bowling alley while talking on a cellphone. <\/p>\n
An arrest report states that the \u201cstolen bag contained $9,000 in U.S. currency, multiple pieces of gold jewelry with an estimated value exceeding $51,000, and five passports.\u201d <\/p>\n
Police said managers at the bowling alley provided a receipt possibly linked to the suspect. <\/p>\n
Detectives later identified the suspect as Harold Lozano after reviewing surveillance footage, license plate reader data and records tied to a black Cadillac Escalade seen leaving the area.<\/p>\n
Cellphone data also placed Lozano, of Miami Shores, at the location during the time of the theft, according to the report.<\/p>\n
Police said Lozano was arrested Monday and taken to MPD headquarters, where he waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives.<\/p>\n
During the interview, Lozano recalled the incident and said \u201cfinders keepers,\u201d claiming he believed the items had been abandoned, investigators said.<\/p>\n
Lozano told detectives that he got rid of the passports, jewelry and cash but did not provide exact details about where or when, the report states. <\/p>\n
Jail records show Lozano is facing one count of second-degree grand theft involving more than $20,000 but less than $100,000, as well as failure to report lost or abandoned property.<\/p>\n
As of Tuesday morning, he was being held on a $5,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. <\/p>\n
