<\/a><\/p>\nGabrielle Russon with Florida Politics shared the discovery, which comes from a February 2024 court deposition, when Disney was embroiled in a legal battle with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.<\/p>\n
Florida Politics requested records in October 2024 but only recently received them.<\/p>\n
Imagineer Todd Rimmer said under oath that the Magic Kingdom expansion was \u201cstill under development\u201d and \u201cincluded new attractions and redevelopment of existing attractions and potentially new hotels.\u201d<\/p>\n
The expansion is currently under construction<\/a> and includes the Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park and Disney Villains Land but no hotels.<\/p>\n Lawyer Nicole Moss, representing the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board, asked how many hotels were under consideration.<\/p>\n \u201cOne or two hotel locations,\u201d said Rimmer.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd would these be new hotels or development of existing hotels?\u201d asked Moss.<\/p>\n Rimmer said, \u201cNew.\u201d<\/p>\n Moss asked, \u201cAnd where would they be located?\u201d<\/p>\n A Disney lawyer objected to the line of questioning but Rimmer ultimately answered, \u201cGenerally, it\u2019s within the same area that we\u2019re expanding. There are no specific locations decided yet.\u201d<\/p>\n There are three hotels located within walking distance of Magic Kingdom: Disney\u2019s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney\u2019s Contemporary Resort, and Disney\u2019s Polynesian Village Resort. But it seems these \u201cone or two\u201d hotels would have been attached to the theme park. The closest Walt Disney World has had to an in-park hotel was Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, but guests still had to take a shuttle to Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios.<\/p>\n An in-park hotel at Disney World would be similar to Universal Epic Universe, which opened last year with the attached Helios Grand Hotel<\/a>. Epic Universe is the only theme park in Central Florida with an in-park hotel.<\/p>\n But Disney never announced plans for such a hotel and said in a statement to Florida Politics, \u201cThere are no plans for new hotels as part of the Magic Kingdom expansion.\u00a0We\u2019re focused on bringing to life all we\u2019ve already announced, which you can find the details on at\u00a0DisneyExperiences.com\u201d<\/p>\n The Villains Land and Cars area were announced a few months after Disney and the District Board settled<\/a> their lawsuits.<\/p>\n Do you wish Disney would add a hotel to Magic Kingdom?
