You\u2019ve heard of cocktail lounges and rooftop bars, but there\u2019s one watering hole in Miami that\u2019s taking things to a new level, or should we say sublevel. Deco\u2019s resident cocktail connoisseur Alex Miranda gives the lowdown at the Prohibition-style speakeasy 9 Feet Under in Hialeah.<\/p>\n
Live it up all you want. But the best party in Hialeah may actually be:<\/p>\n
\u201cWay Down Hadestown\u201d by Hadestown Original Broadcast Company: \u201cWay down under the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n
Forget staying \u201cgrounded,\u201d because 9 Feet Under isn\u2019t your typical bar.<\/p>\n
James Tundidor Jr.: \u201c9 Feet Under is, exclusively, the only underground speakeasy in Miami.\u201d<\/p>\n
You heard that right! This 1920s-style speakeasy really is below the surface!<\/p>\n
But when it comes to the experience, it\u2019s all about going above and beyond.<\/p>\n
James Tundidor Jr.: \u201cYou\u2019re gonna come in here, and you\u2019re gonna be treated like a superstar. We wanna make sure that if you come here, you feel like a king or a queen.\u201d<\/p>\n
From the vintage decor to crafty cocktails, this place is all about serving up something new and refreshing for the Hialeah community.<\/p>\n
James Tundidor Jr.: \u201cWe have some of the greatest mixologists that have built wonderful, seasonal menus. So about every three months, we change up our menus.\u201d<\/p>\n
There\u2019s currently about 30 cocktails on rotation, including the \u201cSnow Bird.\u201d<\/p>\n
James Tundidor Jr.: \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be a gin forward cocktail with blue cura\u00e7ao. We\u2019re gonna throw some lemon juice in it and then we\u2019re gonna garnish it with a feather.\u201d<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also the tropical \u201cHavana Sunset\u201d with rum and guava pur\u00e9e, and 9 Feet Under\u2019s version of a Scottish \u201cOld Fashioned,\u201d which comes with a little smoke show.<\/p>\n
That sounds like a good time and a good vibe!<\/p>\n
Christopher Diaz: \u201cThis takes you back to old Miami. I feel like it\u2019s a flashback in time with the delicious cocktails.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nelson Vindell: \u201cThis place, it\u2019s the true speakeasy; it\u2019s hidden and nobody knows about it, but when you jump in, you fall in love because it\u2019s so cozy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking of cozy, this place is keeping it traditional with their bar bites, which includes Miami staples, like croquetas, empanadas, and wings made with a secret sauce.<\/p>\n
James Tundidor Jr.: \u201cDefinitely not spicy, you\u2019re gonna have a few notes of cilantro. But I can\u2019t give you the secret because if not, my mom would kill me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Keeping secrets is totally on brand for a speakeasy. But here\u2019s the cold hard truth: Locals love this place, and they think you will too!<\/p>\n
Nelson Vindell: \u201cI feel like I\u2019m VIP but then I see and it\u2019s not only for me, it\u2019s for everybody. Everybody feels welcomed.\u201d<\/p>\n
