<\/a><\/p>\nFireworks launchpad at center of pond behind Epic Universe, Aerial Photos by Bioreconstruct<\/a><\/p>\n When Epic Universe officially opened in May of last year it did not debut with a fireworks show. There were fireworks to mark the opening<\/a>, but only for media the day before the park officially opened.<\/p>\n Since then we have seen special fireworks demonstrations only on July 4th<\/a> and New Year\u2019s Eve<\/a>. For those presentations temporary launch pads were set up in dirt. But things are about to change as preparations are being made for permanent launch sites.<\/p>\n Official photo of grand opening event from Universal Orlando Resort<\/p>\n Shortly after grand opening last year, Seth Kubersky interviewed entertainment directors for Universal Orlando. In the interview, published at Orlando Weekly<\/a>, Anitra Pritchard, senior manager of show direction at Epic Universe had the following to say about fireworks at the park: \u201cWe\u2019re still looking into [fireworks]; we\u2019re still working on it.\u201d<\/p>\n Cut to just a few months later, and the construction on permanent launch pads started.<\/p>\n Fireworks Launch Pads<\/p>\n Located behind the park, on the other side of the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a launch pad is being constructed in the center of a large drainage pond.<\/p>\n It took several more months, but we can now see a concrete pad at the end of the peninsular at the center of the pond, with an access road leading to it from the shore.<\/p>\n At the shore, what appears to be a control booth with a window has been installed. This little bunker features a window facing the launchpad, perfect for detonating the pyro remotely.<\/p>\n Two more of these prefabricated control booths arrived on site as well, but have yet to be installed. Permits say they will be located on the sides of the park, atop buildings in Dark Universe and the Wizarding World.<\/p>\n Permits for prefabricated sheds to be installed on rooftops, fasttrack.ocfl.net<\/p>\n The few temporary special fireworks shows we have seen so far have included fireworks at the center, behind the park, as well as on the sides, near these two lands, so these control booths appear to be going to new permanent launch sites for secondary pyro.<\/p>\n Official map with approximate side fireworks launch sites circled<\/p>\n Now Hiring: Fireworks Technicians<\/p>\n Universal Orlando just this month has put out a call for new job positions that may be related to permanent fireworks shows at Epic Universe.<\/p>\n According to the job listings, which were first discovered by YoBentley on social media<\/a>, they are looking for two techs for fireworks and pyro at Epic Universe, as seen in the image below.<\/p>\n Recent job listings, Image: YoBentley<\/a><\/p>\n The job requirements describe one of the positions as assisting in the transportation, preparation, and storage of fireworks and equipment.<\/p>\n Job description from one of the listings, Image: YoBentley<\/a><\/p>\n New Nighttime Show Name<\/p>\n A trademark application was filed for a name and logo for what very well could be a new nighttime show at Epic Universe.<\/p>\n Trademark application for possible new show name, U.S. Patent & Trademark Office<\/p>\n Filed back in December of last year, the trademark application included a logo in addition to the name itself.<\/p>\n The logo for \u201cUniversal Celestial Goodnight\u201d was filed for use in \u201centertainment services in the nature of an amusement park show.\u201d<\/p>\n Logo filed by Universal with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office<\/p>\n Curiously, this logo has been seen posted publicly once before. A YouTube channel showcasing demo music for Epic Universe<\/a> by artist Johnny J. Johnston seems to be utilizing a colorful render of the logo image as its main channel logo\u2014although they draw no attention to it on the channel itself.<\/p>\n Color version of logo seen on YouTube: @GlobalDiscoveryGroup<\/a><\/p>\n As with all details for a possible nighttime show, we do not have confirmation that this name and logo are in fact the official name for a hypothetical show.<\/p>\n Fountains and Lighting Upgrades<\/p>\n The current nighttime show for Epic Universe features a choreographed show of coordinated fountains and colorful lighting all throughout Celestial Park, the central area of the park.<\/p>\n Right now though, the main set of fountains, known as the Cosmos Fountain, are undergoing scheduled maintenance<\/a>, and are not running as part of the current nightly show.<\/p>\n Cosmos Fountain drained for maintenance, Photo: Kdodgers24<\/a><\/p>\n On top of that, a lot of the embedded LED ground lighting is being worked on as well<\/a>.<\/p>\n All of the fountain and lighting work, however, is rumored to be related to preparation for this new possible show. The fountains are expected to be done with refurbishment just in time for the new show to debut.<\/p>\n Ground lighting covered during renovation work, Photo: @Kdodgers24<\/a><\/p>\n We actually saw testing happening with new animated projections inside of the fountains for the first time back in December. These types of effects are not currently utilized during public shows.<\/p>\n Projection effects testing at Epic Universe<\/p>\n What appeared to be a phoenix from Harry Potter flapping its wings could be seen projected on to the fountains, visible in the video below taken from a room at the Helios hotel.<\/p>\n Here is another view for you pic.twitter.com\/tyzKJDgN1v<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Dave Hamilton (@Jedi_Web_Master) December 4, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n When Will the New Show Debut?<\/p>\n Without an official announcement, it\u2019s hard to predict when a new show will debut, but we can speculate based on what the park did last year.<\/p>\n Fireworks at New Year\u2019s Eve, Photo: Bioreconstruct<\/a><\/p>\n One of two dates we saw any fireworks at all in 2025 was on the Fourth of July<\/a>, so it stands to reason that the park will want to have the new fireworks launchpads ready in time for that this year.<\/p>\n That likely also means that any maintenance work on the Cosmos Fountain should be wrapped up by then too, at the very latest anyway. (I would hope the fountains could return sooner.)<\/p>\n Perhaps we could see a regular fireworks show for Epic Universe debut after its annual July 4th presentation?
