ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 The Orange County Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested a man for aggravated assault early Wednesday morning after he allegedly ran toward an Uber driver while pointing a knife. <\/p>\n
Anner Orlando Alvardo Rickett was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct following the confrontation at 7679 International Drive in Orlando. Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 12:09 a.m. to investigate the report of an assault in progress.<\/p>\n
The victim, Rafael Antonio Duverge, told deputies he was parked on the south side of Hogan\u2019s Beach Shop at approximately 12:04 a.m., waiting for an Uber order. After receiving a notification, Duverge drove to the rear of the building and made a U-turn. Duverge stated he then saw Rickett at the back of the property.<\/p>\n
According to the victim\u2019s statement, Rickett stood up with a knife in his hand as the vehicle approached. As Duverge continued to drive, Rickett allegedly ran toward the car while pointing the knife in the driver\u2019s direction. Duverge reported that he became fearful and immediately drove away from the building.<\/p>\n
Duverge contacted 911 because he was afraid Rickett would try to harm other people in the area. When deputies arrived, they located Rickett at the rear of the shop. Rickett was detained after Duverge positively identified him during a show-up at the scene.<\/p>\n
Despite the identification, Duverge told investigators he did not want to press charges or participate in legal proceedings. However, deputies determined probable cause existed for the assault charge due to Rickett\u2019s actions, and a disorderly conduct charge was added because the incident affected public peace.<\/p>\n
After being read his Miranda rights, Rickett declined to speak with deputies. Rickett was transported to the Orange County Jail following his arrest.<\/p>\n
