TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee Animal Service Center hosted its Pick a \u2018Pup\u2019kin event this weekend to help get more dogs and cats into new homes. <\/p>\n
Vice President of the Animal Shelter Foundation, Lauren Perlman, said there were many dogs to adopt.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s all kinds of dogs, and all they want to do is be back in a home,\u201d Perlman said. \u201cWe, hopefully, can put them there.\u201d <\/p>\n
The first 25 people to adopt a pup also walked away with a pumpkin, just in time for the fall season. <\/p>\n

The shelter can be a challenging adjustment for dogs, according to Perlman. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very loud environment,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been in a home and now they\u2019re here – somewhere they don\u2019t know – so helping them get back into a home is huge.\u201d <\/p>\n
Perlman said they have dogs for various age groups and lifestyles. \u201cJust so many that are needing homes,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Pick a \u2018Pup\u2019kin is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. If you don\u2019t make it to the event, you can make an appointment at the shelter or drop by Wednesday through Sunday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
